The International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association (IUSCA) and the Football Medical and Performance Association (FMPA) are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a strategic collaboration to enhance standards and best practices in strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and performance science.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting practitioners across both organizations by fostering knowledge exchange, promoting professional development opportunities, and advancing research in elite sport performance. As part of the agreement, the IUSCA and FMPA will collaborate on webinars, workshops, and conferences, facilitate reciprocal knowledge-sharing, and explore joint initiatives aimed at enhancing education and professional standards within the industry.
Andrew Langford, Executive Director of the IUSCA, commented: "We are excited to establish this partnership with the FMPA, recognizing the critical relationship between strength and conditioning and sports medicine in optimizing athlete performance. By working together, we can further support practitioners in their professional development and ensure that best practices continue to evolve within football and beyond."
The MoU also enables both organizations to support each other’s conferences, share expertise, and develop initiatives that benefit members in both strength and conditioning and medical performance roles.
Eamonn Salmon, CEO of the FMPA, added: “The FMPA are delighted to partner with IUSCA. As a dedicated international body for strength and conditioning practitioners and accreditors within the higher education sector, we look forward to sharing knowledge and resources in order to enhance the activities of both our organisations for the benefit of all professionals involved.”
The agreement is set to run until October 2026, with a mid-term review to assess its progress and potential expansion. Both organizations look forward to a productive and impactful collaboration.
