Keynote Speakers
Dr. Paul Comfort
Dr. Comfort, a Professor of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Salford (UK) and an adjunct professor at Edith Cowan University (Australia), will deliver a presentation titled
“Is there too much emphasis on maximal strength development?”
Dr. Comfort's presentation will explore the following:
- Force production requirements for acceleration and deceleration in various sports.
- Methods for assessing force production characteristics and interpreting real-life data.
- Techniques to enhance specific force production characteristics using a sequential approach.
Paul Comfort is a renowned expert in the field, having authored/co-authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed journal articles and several key textbooks in strength and conditioning. He regularly consults with team sports in the UK and USA and has been a pivotal figure in the UKSCA and NSCA.
John McMahon, PhD, CSCS*D, ASCC
Dr. John McMahon is the Director of Research and Education at Hawkin Dynamics. He is also an Honorary Associate Professor at the University of Salford, where he previously worked for more than a decade as a biomechanics researcher and educator. John has authored >100 published journal articles and has presented his force assessment research at multiple international conferences spanning the fields of strength and conditioning, sports biomechanics, and sports science.
"Force Assessment: Optimising Workflow Efficiency in Team Sport Environments"
This will be an in-depth, practical workshop demonstrating how to effectively use force plate assessment protocols within sports teams. John will be joined on the delivery of this by:
Peter Mundy, PhD
Dr. Peter Mundy is the Chief Scientific Officer at Hawkin Dynamics. With over a decade of experience providing performance support, Dr. Mundy possesses extensive expertise in transforming data into actionable insights, particularly in the realm of force assessment.

David Martinez Hernandez
David is currently the 1st Team Sports Scientist for Newcastle United Women, whilst also completing his PhD at Salford University (UK).
"Theory to practice: Flywheel Eccentric Training for Team Sports Performance and Injury Prevention"
David’s presentation and practical workshop will explore the following:
- Theoretical principles of eccentric training and benefits of utilizing flywheel training methodology
- How to create eccentric overload through flywheel training
- Flywheel training and its link to sports movements
- The use of flywheel eccentric training for injury prevention and rehabilitation
Manny Silveira
Manny Silveira is a distinguished Strength and Conditioning Coach with extensive experience in elite sports, including American Football and Olympic disciplines. He is also the host of the Sports Performance Podcast "PA Chalk Up," where he interviews leading industry experts. Additionally, Manny is the business development representative for TeamBuildr Europe.
"Practical Applications of Periodisation and Programming"
In his presentation, Manny will delve into the following topics:
